The problem

Gaffmate came to us with nothing online. No site, no waitlist, no way to test whether the idea would land. The housemate-matching space in the UK was full of listings-first platforms that paid no attention to compatibility or safety, especially for women. There was a real gap, and a product to fill it. What they were missing was the web presence to put it in front of people.

Strategy

  1. 01

Got to grips with what makes Gaffmate different. People-first matching for UK renters, with safety front and centre. We built the site to tell that story clearly and set it apart from SpareRoom and the generic listings sites.

  2. 02

Before anything bigger, we designed and launched a focused waitlist page. Simple and fast, built to capture real interest from South London renters while Gaffmate's product was still in development.

  3. 03

Structured the site around what matters to renters, from group household profiles to personality-led matching and safety-first onboarding, so visitors instantly understood what Gaffmate offers.

  4. 04

Kept the build lean and launch-ready. Mobile-first, fast to load, and written and designed to turn visitors into waitlist signups rather than just look good.
